The Total Package?
I like K. West but lately I've heard him collaborating on tracks that I don't think he belongs on. His production style is ill and he works well with heavy hitters such as Mos and Com and Kweli but lyrically he doesn't come close. His album was cute in a hip pop sort of way and he hits every time with his beats but his lyrics..come on. Maybe it's his diction that messes me up or the mid west ghetto phrases he uses that I can't get past. No dis but he's just not of the same caliber as some of the MC's he works with . Don't get me wrong I got l'v for his work and it's not that he's not f'ckable..he's got a certain amount of flyness to him and I have to admit that at one time I wanted to....uh...send him one of my J-Line, JINNPAK back packs (the Grind Pak for holding it down wherever, not the Emcee Artillery Pak for organized lyrical warfare) so he could rock the best bag out there (you know 'we got ya back' in every aspect of the game) since he's a backpackin brother. Regardless of all that, I think he should do what he does best and that is making funky music which is a must..cause he's still #1.. (KRS1) at least until Brick City's Mic Jones hits it hard, since we're talking about producers on the mic and all. What.
